etymology

We’re Chamorros from Guam now living in the States. It wasn’t until we left the island that we truly understood how vital our connection to nature is. There’s a unique sense of peace, quiet, and calm that nature brings—something that can be hard to find in city life. We’re proud of our island roots and want to share the positive energy that nature cultivates.

  • Nicole

    The Dreamer

Blissful and free-spirited, Nicole is our resident designer. Professionally, she comes from a background in sales and account management, but her true passion has always been creating. Whether she’s composing music or renovating a room, Nicole finds sanctuary in her art. As a child, she’d scavenge leftover paint from the shed and cover entire walls with murals—fearlessly experimenting without worrying about consequences. “My parents gave me the freedom to explore and hone my creativity, which really nurtured my imagination and design skills,” she says. Her professional experience taught her to listen carefully and pick up on clients’ needs and pain points, so she can design pieces that perfectly capture each client’s vision.

  • Tina

    The Mastermind

Tina is our quality and operations mastermind. She earned a BS in Economics and consistently ranked in the top 5% of her class in advanced sciences—so it’s no surprise she’s borderline obsessive about quality and integrity. Prior to joining Tano, she was an executive PA for over 10 years managing both personal and business affairs including healthcare, estate maintenance and property management across rural, residential, and commercial sites. Remarkably versatile, she’s multilingual, tech-savvy, handy and could probably win a Jeopardy game. Tina is happiest when she’s learning or tackling a new project. She’s the backbone of our operation, overseeing every detail and never afraid to roll up her sleeves when needed.

  • Richard

    The Builder

Richard is our builder and fabricator. No matter where you want to install your design, he’ll figure out the best way to make it happen. If he’s unfamiliar with a technique, he knows how to sift through online information to find reliable advice—his background growing up in a struggling neighborhood turned him into a true DIY’er and creative problem-solver. He’s mastered nearly every tool and has exceptional fine and gross motor skills, allowing him to build with precision. His mechanical acumen is second to none: from assembly and fabrication to welding and logistics in oil, gas, and pharmaceutical manufacturing sites. Friends and family turn to him for car trouble, custom installations, or fabrication challenges. Whether he’s jump-starting a car with a drill battery or rigging his son’s power wheel for better performance, Richard can build almost anything with exacting detail.

  • Merci

    The Socialite

Our socialite and public relations guru. She embodies sophistication and class, handling herself with assertive composure and grace. She’s held prominent roles in the judiciary systems of both Arizona and Guam—everything from Speaker of the House to Attorney General’s Departmental Liaison. She’s a mother of three boys and married to a former police chief. A born communicator, she’s happiest when connecting with people—whether through conversation or advocacy for underrepresented communities. Merci successfully persuaded numerous government and private decision-makers with a single speech to establish a city nonprofit organization. With her extensive expertise and outstanding presentation skills, she is an invaluable asset to our team.
